“Lola’s” Quilt
April 7th, 2007

The very beginning of this quilt appeared much earlier in this blog, so I thought you might enjoy seeing the finished top. The quilting will come later. My daughter Alison is expecting a baby girl the end of May; my first grandchild. I have named her “Lola” until she arrives and her parents tell us her given name. Alison and I live in different parts of the country, so we shopped for some of the fabric together via e-quilter.com. The fabric arrived and the print was a little bigger than I was expecting, so I incorporated it into the quilt in the wide borders. I wonder if a child can develop attention deficit disorder from being exposed to too much color? Even the cat was on top of it, pawing at some of the patterns.

That’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! You must have been working hard. That’s one lucky baby!
Have a grand time on your holiday.

I absolutely LOVE this quilt! I think it turned out better than I had imagined it from the original pattern/plan. It looks like a real work of art

I am the lucky mother of “Baby Lola!” Fortunately I had an ultrasound yesterday that confirmed I really am having a girl. She will be one lucky little girl to receive such a beautiful quilt! Hopefully looking at such a creative and funky quilt will make her a very creative little girl (and not give her ADD!) I can’t wait to see it in person.

I especially love the block with the bird houses. Where could I find a quilt block pattern for that block?
